CONTESTED MATTERS

A contested matter is any matter in which you and your spouse do not agree to the terms of the divorce or parentage action.  If you have been served with paperwork and you do not agree with the terms of the paperwork you were served with, you have a contested matter.

Contested matters are often lengthy and time-consuming.  They often require special interim orders, called Temporary Orders, mediation, and a process called "discovery."  Most attorneys charge a retainer (deposit) of between $2,000 and $5,000 for contested matters.

If you believe your case may be contested, please call our office and our staff can give you more information about your options and service available.
