She is a staff attorney for Nonprofit Legal Services of Utah.

She graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Sociology and Criminology certificate prior to attending S.J. Quinney College of Law.

Krista Stoker

KRISTA STOKER

PARALEGAL

Krista was first introduced to the world of law at age 17, when she was represented by iconic civil rights attorney, Brian Barnard, in a lawsuit against South Salt Lake after South Salt Lake denied her a free speech permit.  It was through that experience that she cultivated both a love for law and a long-lasting friendship with him.  It was this fearless mentor that worked tirelessly to provide access to justice who inspired and encouraged her to pursue her legal career. She worked under his tutelage from 2003 until his untimely and unexpected death in 2012.

After beginning her paralegal career, she earned an AAS degree in Paralegal Studies from Salt Lake Community College and later graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.  She continued to work in the legal field through her studies and after graduating, developing extensive skills from various mentors.  Her favorite area of practice is that of family law because of the unique problem solving that can be done within it.  She learned the importance of providing low-cost legal services to the general public early in her career through her mentor.

In 2016, Krista began working as a freelance paralegal and working with several different solo practitioner attorneys, providing paralegal assistance on various family law and some criminal law matters. Her attention to detail and strong work ethic make her a valuable option for attorneys seeking to conserve time and resources for different clients.  Now, she brings her experience and expertise to individuals and attorneys alike working as a freelance paralegal with Utah Family Legal.

Krista has a passion for the work that she does that can be seen by anyone who has ever worked with her, both personally or professionally. She is grateful for the extensive knowledge that she has gained over the years working with some of the best in the field, and believes strongly in providing services at reasonable costs and giving more people affordable legal access.

Her vast knowledge and experience are priceless assets to Utah Family Legal.
